More Great, Wise Quotes, of Rumi! – Part 7 of the Rumi series

Hello friends, my obsession with Rumi’s quotes continues! On this episode, I will take you on a journey to savor TWO more great, wise quotes by Rumi.

Previous: Really inspiring sayings about life, by Rumi! – Part 6 of my Rumi series

“When love is not accepted, move on. When love is not appreciated, walk away. Hopefully, time will teach you what real true love is.”

The first two sentences should be self-explanatory? When you give (romantic or otherwise) love to someone and it is not reciprocated, don’t keep trying to make it happen. You can’t force someone to love you or be a certain way. Everyone has the right to choose what they want to feel or do. Also, in terms of romantic love, why would you ever want to be with someone who doesn’t feel the same way about you?

Real love, in my opinion, is feeling love. It is you loving unconditionally. It is not having the love of someone. Because that is fickle indeed, isn’t it? You may have this person’s love right now, but it can go away at anytime (the closest everlasting love is perhaps love between parents and child). And there’s nothing you can do to stop it from happening. All you can do is give your love and perhaps that would cause the other person to continue loving you. But there’s no guarantee. So don’t make that the goal. Give love for the sake of loving. Because it feels good, because that’s who you are, because that’s your natural state of being. You were born to love.

“You were born with wings. You are not meant for crawling. So don’t. You have wings, learn to use them, and FLY.”

Nothing much to explain for this. Just don’t be afraid to dream, to believe that everything you want is on its way to you right now, IF you allow it. How do you allow the things you want to come to you? By not thinking negatively. That’s it. By not thinking pessimistic thoughts a lot, by not thinking angry or resentful thoughts so much.

That is why it is said that meditating every day for maybe half an hour will start to bring you the life that you dream of. You will begin to see your life transform before your very eyes. Because when you meditate, you stop thoughts. You allow yourself to connect with who you really are, which is everything, which is the Divine, which is you. You feel peaceful, joyful. And after meditating, you’ll find that the thoughts that come to you are happy, are optimistic, are joyful, are inspiring, are going to solve your problem, are going to get you what you want, are enthusiastic thoughts.

“While the mind sees only boundaries, love knows the secret way there.”

In a previous article of mine on Rumi, I said that it is said that love is the most powerful force in the universe and when we love anything we wish for will come to us very quickly.

And actually, I think that is all I have to say about this quote. Let us take a moment to re-read this quote and appreciate it. Let it soak into our very beings and enjoy just how profound it is.
